After District 26 candidate Jim Schenke was arrested Monday morning, he reported early Tuesday that he was a victim of theft.
A report of a theft, which Schenke was reportedly a victim of, was taken about 4:30 a.m., according to Lafayette Police media logs. The location of the reported theft or what was stolen was not listed.
WLPD Sgt. Shawn Verma was not immediately available for comment on the matter.
Schenke posted on Facebook yesterday that one of his campaign signs was stolen on Halloween.
"Lo and behold, the sign reappeared today at the location from once it was stolen," Schenke said in the post.
It is unknown if the stolen sign is the same as the theft in the LPD report.
Schenke was not immediately available for comment.
Schenke was arrested yesterday after allegedly violating a protective order by commenting on a Facebook post, according to previous Exponent reporting.
